While waiting for daddy to come out... (you see, Duncan's been accompanying Daddy on his way to the office just outside the gate)...there he saw outside the gate a gold colored pussycat. He simply walked on his own to go "get" the pussy...! and those were more steps that mommy can count.

HEPATITIS A VACCINE (What you need to know)
Hepatitis A is a serious liver disease caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). HAV is found in the stool of persons with hepatitis A. It is usually spread byclose personal contact and sometimes by eating food or drinking water containing HAV.
Hepatitis A can cause:
•mild “flu-like”illness
•jaundice (yellow skin or eyes)
•severe stomach pains and diarrhea
People with hepatitis A often have to be hospitalized (up to about 1 person in 5). Sometimes, people die as a result of hepatitis A (about 3-5 deaths per 1,000 cases). A person who has hepatitis A can easily pass the disease to others within the same household. Hepatitis A vaccine can prevent hepatitis A.
Some people should be routinely vaccinated with hepatitis A vaccine:
• All children 1 year (12 through 23 months) of age.
• Persons 1 year of age and older traveling to or working in countries with high or intermediate
prevalence of hepatitis A, such as those located in Central or South America, Mexico, Asia (except Japan), Africa, and eastern Europe.
• Children and adolescents through 18 years of age who live in states or communities where
routine vaccination has been implemented because of high disease incidence.
• Men who have sex with men.
• Persons who use street drugs.
• Persons with chronic liver disease.
• Persons who are treated with clotting factor concentrates.
• Persons who work with HAV-infected primates or who work with HAV in research laboratories.

It was early in the morning and then he just did it. He went to his Mama with rushing legs. Well, steps 1 - 4 is quite ok for the meantime.

Juz Got Lucky!
While waiting for Daddy, Duncan and Mommy went to Quantum @ V-mall. Enjoyed the rides here and there until we got to the Ocean Park Game. On the start of the game you will push the lighted button that will drop a ball into a hole. Each hole as a number of tickets to be won where you can change at the counter for a corresponding price. For a starter... D's got lucky. One token, for his pushing the button gives us 50 tickets = a coloring pencil.
Not bad Duncan! Till we get the Jackpot!

Chickenpox Vaccine - What you need to know.
Why get vaccinated?
Chickenpox (also called varicella) is a common childhood disease. It is usually mild, but it can be
serious, especially in young infants and adults.
• The chickenpox virus can be spread from person to person through the air, or by contact with fluid from chickenpox blisters.
• It causes a rash, itching, fever, and tiredness.
• It can lead to severe skin infection, scars, pneumonia, brain damage, or death.
• A person who has had chickenpox can get a painful rash called shingles years later.
Chickenpox vaccine can prevent chickenpox.
Most people who get chickenpox vaccine will not get chickenpox. But if someone who has been
vaccinated does get chickenpox, it is usually very mild. They will have fewer spots, are less likely to have a fever, and will recover faster.
Who should get chickenpox vaccine and when?
Children should get 1 dose of chickenpox vaccine between 12 and 18 months of age,
or at any age after that if they have never had chickenpox.

9:00am - Off we go to Goldilocks - for yaya's cake, then to BPI Atm - for the payables , then to Jollibbee - to drop both the cake and my tarpaulene (big thanks for my tito Chito)
10:00am - Need to rest.... calling Mr. Sandman!
12:00nn - Just came back from my deep slumber.
12:30pm - Here's the birthday boy... upps where's my guests
1:30 - I can still count my guests - weezzzz.... the rain's really pouring now. Got so much blessing from heaven!
2:00 - Ahhh there's my guests... its already past 'D's counting skills. Eating time for all of us
2:30 - Jolli-jolli - jollibee's here. Lets dance.... "my humps!" hehe - (dance equals jumping up and down)
2:45 - How bout i blow my cake.
3:00 - Almost over!
3:30 - ahhhhhhhh, yepee - D's finally having one on one play with baby Steph (one of D's guest).
4:00 - Opening of the gifts.... wow D's got a toy train (thank you ninong Rain!)
4:30 - Still not through with my gifts and picture taking (my photoshoot is almost neverending... my cameraguy Daddy is never tired!)
5:00 - How bout milk?
5:30 - Off we go to my Pedia!
6:00 - Heavy me! (11kls!)
7:00 - @ Home.... D's not tired yet! Daddy... how bout you set-up my toy train? I'm excited on pulling everything apart!

Its Jollibee Zoo Party time for Baby D. Hope the weather will be ok. Everthing's ok, well almost...until tomorrow when we can find out if his signature frame will be done.
He will be wearing combined white & green polo shirt + khaki pants by Big & Small Co. And in case, he did something messy - his next attire will be striped yellow & blue polo shirt + khaki shorts by OshKosh. Socks from OshKosh also and shoes by Florsheim.
Daddy and Mommy are so excited. Baby D will finally be turning 1!

Baby D has learned to:

(both hands!)
- flying kiss
(hanggang mouth nga lang, hehehe) ...very soon he will know how to extend his arms
- sawsaw suka
(this he learned from yaya Leah)
- love
(give any toy and he will hug them tight!)
- sleep mommy
(and he will pat the back of his mommy's shoulder. Of course this is when i'm cuddling him to sleep)
- turn on the fan
(he will sway his body to the direction of the switch)
- knock the door
(he will tap the door then hold the door knob. of course he still can't open it)
- make faces
(a lot of them, depending on the mood e.g. mukhasim!)
- a lot of singing
(he's humming his own lullaby... improved version than few months ago)
- shout
(gosh! we never thought he could be that noisy. He did this without any respect on the place and time, hehe as if he is already grown up!)
- cry
(this is new since he didn't cry at all during his infant life... !)
- roll/ throw the ball
(he chose his own toy story ball in "the gift factory". when you told him to play the ball, he will throw it on you... ouch...sometimes it hurts!)
- brush his teeth
(4... with 5th on the way at the time of this writing)
- pull his k'skids musical pull bee hive
(c/o his ninong Ian and ninang Julie)
- open all the drawers and cabinets
(he is a fast crawler now! what happened to your walking baby D!)
- cruise
(side of the bed... this really makes his mommy's heart beat like crazy. Good thing, there's Daddy)
- hang
(like a monkey... hehe... this he do in his own dresser)
- eat anything and everything
(french fries, siopao, french baker peach muffin, chicken, meat, fish - soon!)
- get down on bed really fast
(this he learned from his daddy few months ago. Since we can't stop him from going down... its best to teach him how. And his Daddy is a successful master to his baby apprentice)
- play with his toy cars
(we have already completed the whole mc donalds collectables. 2 of which came from his ninong Rainier and Ninang Kaye)
and finally...
he knows how to talk over the phone!
Yes, his mommy will call him everyday (well, almost) and he will talk to you, laugh with you and makes funny noises. He started to put more syllables to the word only "extraordinary" mind can understand and he will breath hard so you can hear him.

How we celebrated Daddy's Special Day....
Early in the morning, round 5:30am Baby D is up for a good day....because he might have known we're on leave today to celebrate his Daddy's 35th b-day!

Eat - Daddy treated lunch (since its his birthday anyway, hehe) @ Chef d' Angelo. Gosh, its soooooo heavy. Baby D also got some fill in his tummy. He loved their chicken!
Play - Glorietta's play place has been refurbished and baby D got to play with 'almost' all of them. And check this out - our baby Boy got to meet his baby girl - hehehe. Pix to follow. He was so pa-charming with the cutie baby to the point that he's actually pinching poor baby's arms, i had to really hold his hands to stop him.
Shop - For baby D's Pigeon Baby powder...and his first Jollibee Shirt. Time also to check some party favors for Baby D's birthday party.
Souvenir Photo - Have tried time zone's Van Gogh Painting, well it looks interesting (with all our faces kind'a distorted haha)
And to wrap-up the whole day's event - exhausting yet enjoyable....specially when there's ice cream to come home to!

Baby D has acquired another property! (hehe).
He squealed in delight and rushed to test-drive
his new car!
It was delivered this morning and everybody in the house wants to find out what's inside the big box! They already knew it was for the little prince.

Self Service!
This past few nights (few = 3 nights), Duncan was actually being a self-reliant baby. He managed to hold the bottle ~ feed himself the entire 2 ounces of milk. (hehe) at least! And this is also the sign that we should be starting to allot few hundreds for the teat as he bites them like Godzilla. Poor teats! He managed to work his biting ability with his two(2) cutie lower teeth. Goodluck teats! Till the rest of Duncan's teeth show up!

Jolli-D!
Our cutie, lovable, huggable baby boy a.k.a DUNCAN will soon be celebrating his first Birthday. Hmmm - where will it be? Time for party place hunting! But wait... before his daddy and mommy or anybody else could insinuate a thing, Duncan in his ever exceptional powers get to decide where his first major appearance will be held. Here's what happened:

While strolling in V-mall (formerly Virramall) after the "D" get over and done with all the rides his chubby butt can handle, he met this guy - Jollibee!
Never have i seen my baby boy so fascinated over a statue! (Except of course, when he first saw me... he is still such a wee little angel with no knowledge on how he can show that he is fascinated with his mommy also!, hehe) Going back to the story... He clapped his hands (this he do everytime he is happy). Smiled charmingly, exposing his dimple and touched the cold figure of a standing bee. So unfortunate we haven't brought a camera to capture that moment of their first meeting.

Have inquired from Jollibee - Roosevelt the reservation for July 22 and to our surprise , 4-6pm was already taken. Waaah, the only acceptable time left for us is from 1-3 which means our visitors could either be stuffed or starving. Any how, we requested for advance booking until we come up with plan B (Calling the attention of Mr. Ronald Mc Do, can you excite our baby as Mr. Jolly did?)

Come evening time, baby D managed to stumble upon a Jollibee brochure and instead of eating the piece like tazmania, he looked at the picture of Jollibee and smiled.... which gave his mommy an idea of letting him watch the Jollibee vcd's his daddy has made for him. He giggles and jumps as he watched Jollibee dancing.
To wrap-up the recent events : Baby D wins! He will be having a Jolli - D party!

Key Facts about Influenza (Flu) Vaccine
The single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated.
There are two types of vaccines:
The "flu shot"—an inactivated vaccine (containing killed virus) that is given with a needle, usually in the arm. The flu shot is approved for use in people older than 6 months, including healthy people and people with chronic medical conditions.
The nasal-spray flu vaccine—a vaccine made with live, weakened flu viruses that do not cause the flu (sometimes called LAIV for “Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine”). LAIV is approved for use in healthy people 5 years to 49 years of age who are not pregnant.
Each vaccine contains three influenza viruses-one A (H3N2) virus, one A (H1N1) virus, and one B virus. The viruses in the vaccine change each year based on international surveillance and scientists' estimations about which types and strains of viruses will circulate in a given year.
About 2 weeks after vaccination, antibodies that provide protection against influenza virus infection develop in the body.
Who Should Get Vaccinated
In general, anyone who wants to reduce their chances of getting the flu can get vaccinated.
People at high risk for complications from the flu, including:
Children aged 6–59 months,
Pregnant women,
People 50 years of age and older, and
People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions;
People who live in nursing homes and other long term care facilities.
People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from flu, including:
Household contacts of persons at high risk for complications from the flu (see above)
Household contacts and out of home caregivers of children less than 6 months of age (these children are too young to be vaccinated)
Healthcare workers.
Who Should Not Be Vaccinated
There are some people who should not be vaccinated without first consulting a physician. These include
People who have a severe allergy to chicken eggs.
People who have had a severe reaction to an influenza vaccination in the past.
People who developed Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) within 6 weeks of getting an influenza vaccine previously.
Influenza vaccine is not approved for use in children less than 6 months of age.
People who have a moderate or severe illness with a fever should wait to get vaccinated until their symptoms lessen.
Vaccine Effectiveness
The ability of flu vaccine to protect a person depends on the age and health status of the person getting the vaccine, and the similarity or "match" between the virus strains in the vaccine and those in circulation. Testing has shown that both the flu shot and the nasal-spray vaccine are effective at preventing the flu.
Vaccine Side Effects (What to Expect)
Different side effects can be associated with the flu shot and LAIV.
The flu shot: The viruses in the flu shot are killed (inactivated), so you cannot get the flu from a flu shot. Some minor side effects that could occur are
Soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given
Fever (low grade)
Aches
If these problems occur, they begin soon after the shot and usually last 1 to 2 days. Almost all people who receive influenza vaccine have no serious problems from it. However, on rare occasions, flu vaccination can cause serious problems, such as severe allergic reactions.
